During this week, I’m reading another one of the murder mysteries to complete the 2020 Murder Mystery Bingo Challenge.
I just randomly selected a book because I had bought a lot of books a while back and haven’t actually read them. So, this week I’m reading the following book:
The Listerdale Mystery by Agatha Christie.

This book is a collection of twelve short stories, all varying in their themes. None of the major characters of Agatha Christie make an appearance but I’m sure they’ll be just as interesting !
About the book I read last week, Lord of the Flies by William Golding. This book is a fable, where the story leads to a moral through a parallel of situations. A group of boys are deserted on an island after a plane crash.
At first, an understanding is attained as they form an assembly, divide up duties, try to enjoy it and remain happy. Soon, the fears start creeping up, of a beast at the night-time and differences are formed due to varied views on what is important. The group is split, a savage tribe is formed, which leads to inhumane violence and horrors by an evil leader. They are rescued at the end, but too late.
This particular edition comes with a special chapter ‘Fable’, which is an essay by the author William Golding, as he explains some important elements of the book and how it shows what a man is capable of doing to another man.
This is the type of book that a reader can read innumerable times and still discover hidden depths in the story. Truly, a classic.
