Book #5 of the 2021 Reading Challenge

The last read of the January month is the first book of my 2021 Indian Author Challenge.

To diversify my reading and help me read more books by Indian authors, I’m going to select a book each month from a different genre. This month I’m reading the following book from the genre, Humor.

The Bogus Read by Divyamaan.

Having no knowledge of Indian books and authors, it took quite a lot of effort to find a suitable read for the genre. This book is a satire on Indian affairs and has been reviewed to be accurately funny or funnily accurate, whichever way you may want to put it.

Now about the book I read last, And the mountains echoed by Khaled Hosseini.

A book with a huge web of interconnected lives, all brought together beautifully. So many stories within a story. This book is about a brother and a sister, separated in their childhood. It’s about a man and his unrequited love, about a family who lose their home, a girl who’s mistreated for her disfigured face and so on. The characters are heart touching and real and you feel a kinship to each and every one of them, understanding their struggles and choices.

It’s an engrossing read and I was pulled into the story from page one. It’ll connect to your heart directly and become an experience. I didn’t want it to end and even after it did, I couldn’t stop thinking about the rest of the characters. About how their lives might’ve turned out, what happened to them at the end. It also opened my mind to so many harsh realities while teaching me about the things that matter most in life.

A definite recommendation to all. Every humanΒ mustΒ read his books at least once.

Reading anything lately ?

Let me know.
