Prompt #30 of the 2020 Reading Challenge

This week’s prompt is selected from the 2020 Popsugar Reading Challenge :

A book set in a country beginning with ‘C’.

For this prompt, I reviewed the list on goodreads and decided on the following book :

One Hundred Years of Solitude by Gabriel GarcΓa MΓ‘rquez.

The author is from Colombia, which I’m assuming is the country the book is set in. It’s the first book I’m reading by this author, so I’m equal bits nervous and excited.

About the book I read during last week, The Murder of Roger Ackroyd by Agatha Christie.

Astonished. Baffled. I can’t seem to find a word for the way I’m feeling. In a good way. So, about the story first :Β
The background is familiar, a quiet small village, a wealthy man, Roger Ackroyd, who is found dead in his study and the whole household is involved. Of course, Hercule Poirot is there to help and clear up matters. A few sub plots are slowly revealed, explaining a lot of mysterious clues.

Through out, while reading the book I was so sure that this time the theory forming in my head would turn out to be the right one. But of course, it’s Agatha Christie and she finds a way to turn the tables just before the last chapter. It leaves me so surprised. After reading this book, I’ve become even a bigger fan of her, which I didn’t think was possible.Β

A definite recommendation for everyone, even if you don’t read mystery/detective. This book will change your mind.

What are you reading currently ?

Tell me about it.
