For this week, I’m reading a Murder mystery by my favourite author Agatha Christie.
So, in continuation of my murder mystery bingo challenge, I’m reading the following book this week:
Crooked House by Agatha Christie.

So, it’s a stand-alone story not featuring any of the author’s famous detectives. Normally, I don’t prefer such books but I read the author’s foreword in this book and then was very excited to read it. I am giving here the author’s foreword:
This book is one of my own special favourites. I saved it up for years, thinking about it, working it out, saying to myself: βOne day, when Iβve plenty of time, and want to really enjoy myselfβIβll begin it!β I should say that of oneβs output, five books are work to one that is real pleasure.Β Crooked HouseΒ was pure pleasure. I often wonder whether people who read a book can know if it has been hard work or a pleasure to write? Again and again someone says to me: βHowΒ you must have enjoyed writing so and so!β This about a book that obstinately refused to come out the way you wished, whose characters are sticky, the plot needlessly involved, and the dialogue stiltedβor so you think yourself. But perhaps the author isnβt the best judge of his or her own work. However, practically everybody has likedΒ Crooked House, so I am justified in my own belief that it is one of my best.
I donβt know what put the Leonides family into my headβthey just came. Then, like Topsy βthey growedβ.
I feel that I myself was only their scribe.
About the book I read last week, Red Queen by Victoria Aveyard.
A distopian world, divided by blood where the ones with silver blood rule and possess various abilities and powers. The red blooded are common with no powers and thus, suffer. So, when a girl of red finds herself with an unique power, her life changes. Suddenly, she is declared a long lost silver princess and is betrothed to the younger prince, while her heart follows the elder prince, the heir. To escape the life of lies and to make the silvers pay, she joins the rebellion group which is determined to bring the rule of silvers to an end.
A story of power, domination and rebellion. Also, of loss and deceit. I enjoyed it wholly as distopian fantasy is one of my favourite genres. I’m quite excited to continue reading the series and dive deeper into that world. My recommendation to anyone who want to disappear into another world and enjoy the ride.
What are you reading currently ?
Tell me about it.
