For this week, I’ve taken the following prompt from the 2020 Popsugar Reading Challenge:
A Bildungsroman.
Let me first explain what is a Bildungsroman. It is a novel dealing with one person’s formative years or spiritual education. In simpler terms, a story depicting the growth of main character from childhood to later years, their psychological and moral growth, in which character change is important.
A lot of books qualify for the prompt and for any references, you may check out the list on the goodreads page through this link. I am reading the following book for this prompt:
Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte.

Jane Eyre, a classic was first published in 1847. It’s a story about a girl who is a orphan and has been left under the care of an mean aunt. It tells us of her difficult life there and afterwards, as she is sent to a boarding school. It is also considered a most romantic novels of all times, alongside Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice.
I love romantic classics and Pride and Prejudice is still my most favourite romance novel. So, I am really looking forward to reading Jane Eyre.
About the book I read last week: Third Girl by Agatha Christie. It is a crime mystery-detective novel where a conspiracy theory of murder is revealed. Just another one of those mind blowing endings that I couldn’t have guessed in my lifetime. Also, the title of the book was explained, which was actually a clue in solving the mystery.
I definitely recommend this book who would like to read a superb story and want it to be a quick read. It features Mrs. Adriane Oliver, a crime novelist, who along side Hercule Poirot helps in solving the mystery. I think she was the main highlight of the story for me, as she is so quirky and intuitive.
Did you read the book ? How did you like it ?
